The laptop comes with Core Duo (up to Core 2 Extreme X6800) desktop processor, up to 4 GB of DDR 6400 (800mz) ram and QUADRO FX 1600M w/512MB (upgradable up to Dual GeForce 8800 GTX in SLI). The real draw of this unit is the SLi video cards. You can choose this system to arrive at your home already with 2 Video cards install in SLI mode. The unit comes also with WiFi G, bluetooth, a built in camera, and a slot for a TV tuner. Striping is the term for a RAID 0 array, where data is broken up into small chunks and written to both drives simultaneously, resulting in a pattern of data "stripes" across both drives. Striping data across two drives speeds up transfer times, but also doubles your chances of data loss due to drive failure.
RAID 1 is implemented as mirroring; a drive has its data duplicated on two different drives using either a hardware RAID controller or software (generally via the operating system). Mirroring greatly reduces your chance of data loss in the event of a drive failure. If either drive fails, the other continues to function as a single drive until the failed drive is replaced.
