Issue solving procedure:

  1. Shut down the PC, remove the power cord
  2. Move the "CMOS reset jumper" on the motherboard to the other position
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Put the battery back in
  5. Put the jumper back into its original position
  6. Power back up

This reverts the bios to factory fail-safe defaults. If you leave the jumper at the secondary (reset) position, the system will not boot up.
